Projects
Communica works with government and suppliers to make mapping technology, data and related issues easier to grasp, to use and to benefit from. Here are some of our projects.
Victorian Spatial Data Custodianship
Custodianship enables private companies, agencies and government to share their data for the benefit of emergency services, each other and the wider economy, while managing risk and privacy.
We researched the needs and concerns of prospective Custodians, prepared presentations and attractive, easy to read Fact Sheets and Frequently Asked Questions and continue to assist with the development and implementation of the program.
Geoff Zeiss commented on the Program in his Between the Poles blog
“It is now so much easier for us to approach organisations and for them to make the decision to become a Custodian”. Elizabeth Thomas, Manager, Policy and Business, Department of Sustainability and Environment
Datamaxx Technologies
Marketing advice, company brochure and website for Datamaxx Technologies.
“Communica were easy and professional to work with. Jose Diacono’s spatial industry and technical background enabled her to grasp quickly how to convince my customers. Her enthusiasm is contagious, backed by the responsiveness and attention to detail”. Danny Broadbent, Director, Datamaxx Technologies
Position Magazine
Broadening the horizons of readers through articles on how non-spatial technologies, political developments and commerce impact the spatial industry. From mashups, to carbon accounting to Business Intelligence.
In Case Of Emergency

Writing and editing of several articles for the ETN Communications publication “In Case of Emergency”. This book is a showcase for the work of Australia’s emergency service including their use of mapping technology and data to plan for and respond to emergencies. The articles explained complex technology and concepts such as those underpinning data sharing and satellite imagery for surveillance and their benefits.
“Thanks for these Jose – you make a complicated subject easy to understand”. Katrina Lobley, Editor of “In Case of Emergency”
