I work with spatial, IT and engineering companies to develop practical, effective value propositions. I have built extensive knowledge of the governance, cultural change and practicalities that enable successful data custodianship and spatial data sharing.
I write regularly for the mapping and surveying industry magazine, Position and Asian Survey and Mapping e-zine on new applications, industry trends and external developments that impact the spatial industry.

GITA is a not-for-profit industry association and educational forum for the promotion of asset and infrastructure management in utilities, transport and government.

Smallworld Systems/GE Energy Australia 1993 – 2002
Smallworld was a Geographic Information Systems software company founded in Cambridge, England. Smallworld entered the Australia/NZ market in 1993 and had huge success in its target utility market beginning with the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (subsequently privatised), Sydney Water, Water Authority in WA, Shortland Electricity (to become part of EnergyAustralia) Vector in NZ to name but a few. The company was acquired by GE
Energy in 2000.
I managed Events, marketing and PR for Asia Pacific region for Smallworld’s first eight years in Australia.

Intergraph Europe, UK and Australia 1982 – 1992
In the 1980s Intergraph was a Computer Aided Design Software and Hardware Supplier in Mechanical, Plant Design, Architecture, Electronic and Mapping. I worked initially as European Training Manager in Hoofddorp, Holland then in the UK I established Consulting and Internal IT Groups, working closely with sales to develop and sell industry based consulting packages.
After migrating to Australia in 1991 I was Marketing Manager responsible for PR, Marketing Communications and PC MicroStation software channel.

Programming and Real Time Systems for Royal Dutch Steel (Hoogovens), Royal Dutch Shell, Philips Data Systems and the Port of Rotterdam
